Advantages of RAWMAT® HDB » Vs. HDPE

RAWMAT® HDB is a fundamental breakthrough in barrier technology, and leaves the factory as a complete, functioning system.

The following table explains the advantages of RAWMAT® HDB over HDPE in more detail.

HDPE RAWMAT® HDB
HDPE sheets require welding to achieve secure overlaps. RAWMAT® HDB simply rolls out, watertight overlaps are easily achieved.
HDPE requires specialist welding crews to seal the overlaps. RAWMAT® HDB requires no specialist labour for installation.
HDPE requires specialist lap welding machines. RAWMAT® HDB requires no specialist equipment for installation.
HDPE has temperature limitations for laying and welding. RAWMAT® HDB can be laid in most weather conditions.
Dust on sites can interfere with the security of the welds in HDPE. Dusty sandy conditions do not affect RAWMAT® HDB installation.
HDPE sheets often require additional protective geotextiles. RAWMAT® HDB does normally not require protection geotextiles.
Sealing HDPE to penetrations requires specialist materials. RAWMAT® HDB is simple to seal around pipes & penetrations.
HDPE has no self-healing properties. RAWMAT® HDB has the ability to self-heal punctures.
Complex welding is required to repair damage to HDPE sheets. Simple to repair if membrane is damaged during construction.
